Mimmo Cozzolino  | go to Fysh Rutherford Mimmo Cozzolino was born in 1949 at Herculaneum, near Naples, Italy. At the age of twelve he migrated to Australia with his family. The turning of the millennium celebrates Mimmo's 30th year as a Graphic Designer. A career that has seen him work both as a freelancer and as a partner in design studios. For his contribution to the advertising and design professions Mimmo was awarded an honorary life membership by the Melbourne Art Directors Club. He is equally proud of his involvement to help start the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA) in 1987. He is a regular speaker at design forums and at education facilities. Mimmo is passionate about Australian iconography and graphic design. He is planning a book on Australian packaging as well as a follow up volume to Symbols of Australia (see note on homepage). He studied a Diploma of Commerce at Swinburne Institute. He started his career as the co-creator and writer of the popular 1970s satirical comic strip 'The Iron Outlaw' appearing in Nation Review and the Sunday Observer. He has worked in advertising commercial film production, graphic design and as a copywriter and advertising creative director. He is responsible for creating a number of successful national advertising campaigns.
